The Counseling Centre is a core support backbone for students, and exists primarily to assist current and proposed students in making academic and spiritual decisions for effective Total Personality Development. There are two major focus areas of the Counseling Centre:
a. Academic Counseling
b. Spiritual Counseling

Academic Counseling is aimed at:
• Providing information about courses, programmes and entrance requirements for the various departments
• Providing information on general university regulations
• Helping students to define their academic goals and to choose courses and programmes that will
help them attain their goals.
• Assisting students with academic difficulties experienced during the semester by reviewing their progress and suggesting strategies for improving grades
• Helping students to improve learning skills and develop their own unique resources and capabilities
• Teaching students to apply general strategies for handling university work more effectively

Christian Counseling
In conjunction with a team of designated spiritual Advisors and Pastors, the University Chaplaincy provides individualized personal and pastoral counseling and a wide range of group programmes, with the primary goal to help students realize, develop and direct their Christian and personal talents and capabilities.

Student Support Programmes

Career Planning and Development Centre (CPDC)
This is a drop-in centre where students can receive various kinds of career and educational information. Information available at the centre will broaden the student’s awareness of career
alternatives and how to position themselves for success in chosen career paths.
The CPDC also teaches students skills in resume writing, interviewing techniques, work ethics, and other job-related training.
The Career Planning and Development Centre also assists students with part time, summer and permanent employment needs, by providing guidance in job search methods, career analysis, and development, employment transition, as well as local, provincial, national, and international employment opportunities.

Peer Leadership Centre

This is an excellent resource for new and current students, to learn from peer role models and trainers for different aspects of student life. Particularly, the Peer Leaders serve as orientation assistants and student ambassadors; they also offer services in Student Seminar Series. Peers are also involved in counseling, since it is sometimes easier for students to work with peers than
with Faculty or Staff advisers.

Wellness Education Centre

The University Wellness and Education Centre is a strong advocate for healthy living, and offers health promotion programmes and materials designed to facilitate the understanding of high-risk behaviours and disease related factors. The Wellness Education Centre also uses peer leaders who function as para-professionals, providing information on health related issues. Thus the centre serves mainly as an outreach education unit, coordinating wellness seminars such as healthy eating, relaxation, and stress management.
