Alumni Picks Best Awards in Malaysia University
Mr. Eugene Okyere-Kwakye an alumnus of ANUC made the university proud by winning the best post-graduation award in Malaysia. Having excelled and done hat was necessary, the University Teknologi, Malaysia, School of Graduate Studies had no option than to confer the overall best Post Graduate Student Award for 2011 on him.
Aside this award, he also took the Pro-Vice Chancellor's award which is given to the overall best post graduate student of that academic year. Mr. Okyere-Kwakye said " University education is not about fashion, no about basking or the display of wealth probably created by one's parents or guardians but is based on determination, purposefulness and the willingness to sacrifice every bit of one's time to achieve success.
Okyere-Kwakye, then a level 400 undergraduate student offering a Bachelor of Business Administration at All Nations University, Koforidua, applied to be enrolled at Universiti Teknologi, Malaysia. Based on the impressive accumulative grading points he had obtained at the end of level 300, the university offered the applicant an outright admission the same year he applied.
At the end of his course, he obtained Bachelor of Business Administration, Second Class Upper division in 2009.
Mr. Okyere said the course spanned three semesters was very difficult. He said within the period, he did 21 credit hours and 21 credit hours research. OUt of the 21 credit hours that he did, he obtained 'As' in all subjects except a 'B+' in one subject to conclude his master's programmes.
While at school, the award winner produced four articles all of which were published in the High Impact Journals. As a result of his of his articles, he attended international conferences in China, Singapore and in Malaysia where he defended some of his articles.
He was also the only Ghanaian among over 2000 post graduate students. When asked whether he would like to join the academia, Okyere-Kwakye said he would like to gain some experience in a corporate establishment before going to lecture.
Universiti Teknologi, Malaysia is rated the best university that country and the 230 in the world.
Okyere-Kwakye is grateful to his parents for paying his fees.
