ANUC Holds 7th Convocation

All Nations University College on 19th May, 2011 witnessed her 7th Convocation ceremony at the City Campus grounds. The theme of the ceremony was “Embracing Wholistic Education in Pursuit of Excellence”. A total of ninety eight graduands were congregated with three being awarded with First Class honours, thirty five with Second Class Upper Division, forty four with Second Class Lower Division, nine with Third Class and the rest had a Pass.
Dignitaries present at this year’s convocation where a representative of the Minister of Education, Ghana, Honorable (Mrs.) Betty Mould-Iddrisu, Mr. Nii Adotei Abrahams, The Deputy Regional Minister, representing the Regional Minister, Dr. Appiah-Kubi, a representative of Nigerian High Commissioner, The Deputy Head of Mission, Honourable Mohammed Kurmawa,  and Honourable M. A. Kumaw, representative of The Indian High Commissioner. Also present where The Chancellor of ANUC, The Vice Chancellor, KNUST, The President of ANUC, The Registrar, KNUST, The Deputy Registrars, ANUC, Members of Board of Governors, Faculty and Staff members, heads of some tertiary institutions, members of the Alumni and parents.


The convocation started with procession of Faculty and Staff, Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), The Chancellor ANUC, The President, ANUC, The Board of Governors, ANUC and Guest. The National and the University Anthems where sang after which there was an opening prayer. The Chancellor of ANUC, Professor (Emeritus)Dasebre Oti Boateng declared the assembly duly constituted after which The Present of ANUC, Dr. Samuel H. Donkor gave the Welcome address and The Presidents’ Report.

 

In his speech he urged government to use part of the Oil & Gas revenues to set up a scholarship scheme for young people to pursue higher education in the country. Just as the Cocoa Marketing Board (CMB) scholarship scheme helped thousands of Ghanaians to attain secondary and technical education.
The Valedictory Speech was giving by Mr. Etsey Daniel of Electronics and Communication Department. Miss Sarah Dsane gave an address on behalf of the Alumni after the invited guest took turns to address the congregation. Musical Interludes were giving by the Dasebre’s troupe.
