DEPARTMENT OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

INTRODUCTION

BME is the application of physical and engineering principles and methods to biology in the medical field. It combines the design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences to improve healthcare diagnosis and treatment.

ACADEMICS

The department of Biomedical Engineering was established in the year 2006 (first in West Africa) for the purpose of contributing to the growing health needs of Ghana in the area of hospital equipment and technical expertise. Our teaching and research focus for this department is to equip students with the knowledge required for effective contribution to national development in the areas of design of medical instruments, devices and software, and to conduct research to solve clinical problems.
